The first week of the two-week Aiken Fall Festival at Bruce’s Field brought new partnerships and a fresh feeling of fall on September 7-11.

Meredith Huddle and Captainess made their 1.10 Adult Amateur Jumper debut a winning one! They also took other ribbons as well for a great show and the section championship. Special thanks to Hardin Towell for finding “Geisha” and bringing this partnership together.

Gigi Manigault and Creekside

Gigi Manigault doubled the tricolors in the Amateur-Owner Hunters. She earned the 3’3” championship on Creekside and the 3’6” reserve championship on Walk-Off. Gigi won five of the 10 classes in the two sections!

Camryn Cass was all smiles after earning the championship in the 3’3” Junior Hunter section aboard Catchphrase. The pair also placed third in the combined Junior Hunter Classic.

Girl power was felt throughout the show! Elle Boyd and her lovely ladies enjoyed a winning week. Loafers Lodge Melody earned the championship in the Medium Ponies and Kensi was champion in the younger Children’s Hunters. Elle and Melody won three of the four over fences classes on their way to the tricolor for a super show!

MC Nolan had a great week with her horses, scoring an 88 on Golden Years for a well-deserved blue in the 3’6” Junior Hunters. She also topped the combined Junior Hunter Classic and earned the section reserve championship aboard Bettina. And she wasn’t done yet! MC rode Exclusive to fourth in the USHJA Junior/Amateur National Hunter Derby and was fifth in the SCHJA Governor’s Cup Finals in a competitive class of 22 excellent equitation riders.

Rebekah Warren and Ultirate Z captured the Adult Amateur, 36 and over championship with excellent rounds, including two wins over fences.

Liza Boyd continued her Platinum Performance/USHJA International Hunter Derby victory gallop appearances, this year placing sixth aboard Rebekah Warren’s MTM Hand Him Over. Liza, a three-time winner of the Championship, moved up from 14th after the Classic Round with her trademark Handy Round ride, which featured incredible precision and brilliance.

The pair started out the Derby Championship, held August 19-20, at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, with scores of 86.5, 89 and 86.75 for 14th place in the Classic Round out of 69 starters. The elegant bay gelding impressed the judges with his athleticism and stylish jumping over a flowing but challenging course designed by Alan Lohman.

They returned on Saturday evening for the Handy Round, and, as usual, Liza took all of the high option fences and the tightest tracks and turns to move up the ranks. Their efforts were rewarded, with scores of 87.25, 86 and 89 with Handy Bonus scores of 8, 6 and 9, which placed them sixth in that round and moved them up to sixth overall in Section A.

As owner, Rebekah received a check for $11,433.43, which was 5.66 percent of the $252,505 purse for a very rewarding night for the Finally Farm team!

A Great USHJA Green Championship for Finally Farm

Mary Caroline Nolan’s Bettina earned the High Score Mare Award with Liza Boyd

The Finally Farm team spent several weeks at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington this summer, which culminated with the Platinum Performance/USHJA Green Hunter Incentive Championships and the USHJA International Hunter Derby Championship.

Rider/trainer Liza Boyd was one of the busiest riders in the competition, with multiple rides in the two sections of Greens, held August 16-18.

In the 3’6”/3’9” Championship, she qualified four of her mounts for the Championship Round, which consisted of the top-30 horses from Round 1.

She then piloted Gigi Manigault’s Creekside to sixth place in the Championship Round with scores of 86.5, 85.75 and 87.25 from the three panels of six judges sitting in pairs in the Rolex Stadium. She also placed 12th with Mary Caroline Nolan’s Bettina, again with great scores including an 87.5 from one judging panel. In addition, she was 17th aboard Mary Jane King’s Drumroll and 23rd with Stargazing.

In Round 1, Drumroll took third place, Bettina was eighth, Creekside was 20th, Stargazing was 25th and Walk-Off was 29th.

All told, Liza earned $8,071.93 for her horses’ owners in the competition! In addition, Bettina received the High-Score Mare Award.

3’6”/3’9” USHJA Green Hunter Incentive Championship Photo Gallery

In the 3’/3’3” Green Hunter Incentive Championship, Liza rode EMO Stables’ Avila to a tie for sixth place in the Championship Round. The pair earned scores of 83.50, 84 and 87 and earned $3,249.17 for their efforts. Ernie and Betty Oare were on hand to cheer them on throughout the competition and took home a total of $4,328.71 over the course of the three rounds!

Liza also rode Meadowgrove Farm’s Charisto in the Championship Round and finished in a tie for ninth and $3,778.39 in total prize money for the competition.

Matilda jumped beautifully for Liza and placed in the top 30 in Round 2 for owner Alison Thorp.

A Grand Time at Blowing Rock 2

A grand time was had by all during Week 2 of the Blowing Rock Charity Horse Show in scenic Blowing Rock, North Carolina. With special trophies and grand championships up for grabs, the competition was tough, but the Finally Farm team rose to the challenge.

Elle Boyd and Loafer’s Lodge Melody clinched the week’s Medium Pony Hunter championship, the Grand Medium Pony title and were overall Grand Pony Hunter champions for the two weeks at Blowing Rock! For their great performances, they received the Farnley Rutile Perpetual Trophy for the overall Grand Championship.

Elle continued her winning streak with Profound. The pair captured the Children's Hunter Grand Championship, won the Classic and high-score of the day award with an 88! Endless thanks to the Rein family, Deep River and Brady Mitchell for the ride on “Sammy” and for exceptional training!

LuLu Wells and Heaven’s Gift

Super job LuLu Wells and Heaven’s Gift! They earned the Large Pony Hunter championship and the Large Pony Hunter Grand Championship for the two weeks, with exceptional performances throughout the shows.

Elle also rode Callie Kelly’s Girl On Fire to championship honors in the Small Pony Hunters, and they finished the week with the Pony Hunter Classic victory. LuLu and Heaven’s Gift picked up second in the Classic, and Elle rode Loafer’s Lodge Melody to third for a Finally Farm top-three sweep.

Erin McGuire and Kasarr won the Week 2 Welcome, but they had a heartbreaking rail in the Grand Prix jump-off. They had the winning time, but settled for third place. Nevertheless, Erin won her THIRD consecutive Leading Open Jumper Rider title, earning the Jim Breedlove Memorial Trophy donated by the Towell Family. Erin also retired the Russell Hall Memorial Trophy!

Held in the evening, the $15,000 USHJA International Hunter Derby is always a highlight during Week 2, and this year was no exception. The class became a duel between two of the best hunter riders in the country: Liza Boyd and Tori Colvin.

When the proverbial dust settled after the two-round class, Bryan Baldwin’s El Primero and Tori captured the win, with Liza riding Mary Jane King’s Drumroll to third and Rebekah Warren’s MTM Hand Him Over to fifth. Rebekah rode her own Cassico to an impressive 11th.

Liza and Drumroll also earned the Kathryn G. Clark Memorial Trophy Challenge of Champions and the January’s Best Trophy for the Grand Champion 3’6” Green Hunter. The pair also topped the USHJA 3’6” Green Hunter Incentive Stake, and Liza also took the 3’9” section Stake win aboard Gigi Manigault’s Walk-Off. Aboard her own mount, Gigi captured the 3’6” Amateur-Owner Hunter Classic win!

The Amigos + Olivia + Theresa were awardees of the “Bigotes” Award in honor of Alberto, which is given to the groom of the winning horse in the USHJA International Hunter Derby. Endless thanks to the teams behind these horses! We love Blowing Rock, “where friends compete!”

The Junior Hunters were on fire Week 2. Lourdes Low and Sienna scored two 87s on their way to championship honors in the 3’3” Junior Hunter, 16-17, section, while Bettina and MC Nolan claimed the 3’6” Junior Hunter Classic with a beautiful two-round score of 174.

We were sad to see the last day of the iconic Blowing Rock Horse Show arrive. We had a blast, with winning and learning moments along the way. Special thanks to the dream team who puts in the work to make the magic happen, and we can’t wait to be back for next year’s 100th anniversary!

Tons of tricolors decorated the Finally Farm tack room banner after the first week of the Blowing Rock Charity Horse Show. One of the year’s highlight shows, Blowing Rock didn’t disappoint. While the rest of the South East suffered through a heat wave, the riders and horses enjoyed cool weather in the mountains of Western North Carolina.

The team finished the week with four show championships and eight reserves, plus numerous classic wins in the hunters and jumpers and equitation victories.

Liza Boyd starred in the Kathryn G. Clark Memorial Challenge of Champions. She guided Mary Jane King’s Drumroll to the coveted victory and placed third with Rebekah Warren’s MTM Hand Him Over. She also guided EMO Stables’ Sidenote to fifth in the invitational class that’s only open to those who have won championships during the week.

Erin McGuire and her veteran partner Kasarr made it a double by topping the Russell Hall Memorial Jumper Classic and winning the Welcome Jumper Stake! Such a great combination!

The Nolan sisters continued their winning ways. Grace Ann and Bolero D’Armanville zipped to the win in the Adult Jumper Classic on their way to the reserve championship.

Mary Caroline and Exclusive won the THIS and Hamel medals out of 30+. MC was also reserve champion on Bettina in the younger 3’6” Junior Hunters and won a class and earned top ribbons aboard Golden Years.

Lourdes Low and Abazu BSM went first in the order and held the lead to win the Low Children’s/Adult Jumper Classic. Their clear rounds and competitive ribbons all week earned them the division reserve championship, as well.

An excellent week for for Camryn Cass! She won both classes in the older 3’3” Junior Hunters on the second day to capture the championship aboard La Vida Loca. She also claimed the victory in the combined 3’3” Junior Hunter Classic on Catchphrase. In addition, she earned the Goshen Hill POE Rider Bonus on Saturday for her spectacular riding!

Elle Boyd was a busy young rider during Week 1. She and Profound earned the reserve championship in the Children’s Hunter, 14 and under, section and won the Classic! Special thanks to the Rein Family for sharing Profound. Elle also rode Loafer’s Lodge Melody to championship honors in the Medium Pony section with wins in three of the four over fences classes. Aboard Glenhaven Small Talk, Elle topped the WIHS Pony Medal. She also picked up the Small Pony Hunter reserve championship aboard Baby Blue with two top calls over fences. Sister Adeline contributed to the point total with a second place over fences and third in the under saddle.

The amateurs were on fire as well during Blowing Rock. Bridget Hallman and Stargazing earned the show championship, with Gigi Manigault and Creekside taking the reserve in the 3’3” Amateur-Owner Hunters. Rebekah Warren and Cassico and Gigi and Walk-Off split the difference in the 3’6” Amateur-Owner hunters one day, with Cassico and Rebekah earning the reserve championship.

LuLu Wells and Heaven’s Gift continued their tricolor collection with class wins and the reserve championship in the Large Pony Hunters.

Isadora and Callie Kelly’s consistent performances in the Low Adult Hunters paid off with the reserve championship.

The team looks forward to the second week of Blowing Rock and continuing the momentum and fun!

Super Fun at Tryon Summer 4 and 5

Grace Ann Nolan and Bolero D’Armanville were hard to beat at Tryon!

The Finally Farm team spent two weeks at the Tryon International Equestrian Center, from July 5-17, and picked up great ribbons and enjoyed lots of summer fun in Western North Carolina.

During the Tryon Summer 4, riders and horses picked up six championships and two reserves from the Pony Hunters to the Adult Jumpers, with lots of great performances in the derbies and classics, as well.

Bolero D’Armanville and Grace Ann Nolan were nearly impossible to beat during the two weeks. The pair jumped clear and fast consistently and topped the 1.10m Adult Jumper Championship both weeks, won the classic and earned the Grand Jumper title during the Tryon Riding and Hunt Club show!

Why was a star in the 2’6” sections, taking the Foothills Hunter tricolor with Theresa Tolar aboard and the Low Adult Hunter championship with Charlotte Warren in the irons during the Summer 4 show.

Sienna and Lourdes Low also earned double championships, taking the 3’3” Junior Hunter, 16-17, section high-point both weeks with excellent scores and performances. In the same section, Catchphrase and Camryn Cass earned the reserve championship during Summer 4, for a Finally Farm sweep.

In the 3’6” Junior Hunters, Golden Years and MC Nolan took the championship honors, continuing the Finally Farm domination in the juniors.

MC Nolan, pictured with trainer Jack Towell, had another stellar week jumping to champion in the combined 3’6” Junior Hunters on Golden Years and winning the Junior Hunter Classic on Bettina at the TR&HC.

Over in the Pony Hunters, Benjamin Buttons earned the Small Pony Hunter title with Elle Boyd aboard.

The following week, during Tryon Summer 5/Tryon Riding and Hunt Club Charity Horse Show, many more tricolors adorned the Finally Farm banner.

Liza Boyd and Clemens returned to their winning ways, taking the Foothills 3’ Hunter championship, while daughters Elle and Adeline combined forces to sweep the Small Pony Hunter section. Elle earned the championship award Benjamin Buttons, while Adeline guided Baby Blue to the reserve championship. Elle also picked up the Medium Pony Hunter reserve championship aboard Loafer’s Lodge Melody.

Finally Farm continued their “Pony Power during the $10,000 USHJA Pony Hunter Derby, where LuLu Wells and Heaven’s Gift placed third and Elle rode Loafer’s Lodge Melody to seventh.

The Finally Farm team traveled south to Florida for the World Equestrian Center Summer 2 and 3 Horse Shows in Ocala, Florida, June 15-26, and enjoyed a super successful and two fun weeks at this amazing venue.

MC Nolan’s horses jumped in top form and her consistent rides helped them earn tricolor honors both weeks. She guided Bettina to the championship and Golden Years to the reserve championship in the 3’6” Junior Hunter section during Summer 2 and then captured the reserve ribbon with Golden Years during Summer 3.

George Kelly celebrated his birthday with new pony Edorable by wining the Small/Medium Children’s Pony Hunter championship WEC both weeks. The pair won all four over fences classes on their way to the title during Summer 3. What a way to start your new partnership!

Gigi Manigault and her talented Holsteiner Walk-Off made easy work of the 3’6” Amateur-Owner Hunter section on their way to the championship during Summer 2. They won three of the four over fences classes and placed second under saddle for a great show. They also earned top ribbons the 3’6” Performance Hunters, beating lots of top professionals!

Bridget Hallman and her Stargazing also starred in the Amateur-Owners, earning the reserve championship during Summer 3 in the 3’3” section. Bridget also piloted Who’s It to the championship in the Adult Amateur, 36-49, section during Summer 3 with a clean sweep of the section! Rebekah Warren and her MTM Hand Me Over added the Adult Amateur, 50 and over, reserve championship to the Finally Farm ribbon collection.

LuLu Wells and her Welsh pony Heaven’s Gift took no prisoners by winning the Large Pony Hunter championship and combined Pony Classic during Summer 2!

Elle Boyd and Vivianne Kassin’s Bitcoin also added a Classic blue ribbon to the Finally Farm banner, taking the Green Pony Classic victory as well as the Green Pony Hunter championship during Summer 2. Elle also guided Glenhaven Small Talk to tricolors in the Small Green Pony Hunters and was reserve champion during Summer 3 with Benjamin Buttons in the Small Pony Hunters.

Lourdes Low and Sienna got some air time on their way to the 3’3” Junior Hunter, 16-17, championship during Summer 2 and 3. They were first or second in every jumping class—consistency pays off!

The team also had a great showing in the Pony Hunter Derby. LuLu and Heaven’s Gift placed second, Elle and Benjamin Buttons were third and Frances and Girl On Fire claimed eighth.

In the Adult Jumpers, Meredith Huddle put in consistent rounds on Captainess and Money Penny to secure top finishes in the Low and High Adult Jumpers, and Grace Ann Nolan took top ribbons with her Malbay Dreamer.

Trainer Liza Boyd claimed top ribbons in a variety of the open sections during Summer 2 and 3, including the reserve championship in the 3’3” Green Hunters riding Gigi Manigault’s Saturday Session and the 3’ Green Hunter championship with Alison Thorp’s Matilda both weeks.

Championships Abound at Aiken Charity

Elle Boyd and Glenhaven Small Talk

The Finally Farm team started out their spring strongly with lots of wins and tricolors at the Aiken Charity Horse Shows, held May 4-15 at Bruce’s Field in Aiken, South Carolina.

Elle Boyd and her ponies found their way to the winner’s circle on a regular basis during the two weeks, earning championships in a variety of sections. Elle was also named Best Child Rider on a Pony and received the CC Mills Perpetual Trophy donated by Sandra Thomas.

Elle had success aboard Finally Farm’s Loafer’s Lodge Melody, earning the Trip of the Day High-Score Award in the Medium Pony Hunter section with an 86. Elle and Melody also earned the Medium Pony Hunter reserve championship and topped the combined Pony Hunter Classic in Melody’s first time ever in the division. Melody has been at the farm since she was 4 years old and is well versed in all the fun things home has to offer. In addition to her show ring success, Melody is in her element as the best trail pony.

Aboard Finally Farm’s Glenhaven Small Talk, Elle took championship honors in the Small Green Pony Hunters during Week 2 with a clean sweep of the division! They moved up after earning the Children’s Pony Hunter championship during Week 1.

Elle also rode Sugarbrook Love Letter, owned by GC Ponies, LLC, to tricolor honors in the Small Pony Hunters with multiple wins over fences during both weeks.

Lulu Wells and Heaven’s Gift also starred in the pony hunters, taking the Large Pony Hunter championship Week 2 with three blue ribbons, including the win under saddle. Lulu and Heaven’s Gift also placed second and Frances Kelly and Girl On Fire took third in the USHJA Pony Hunter Derby during the Aiken Charity Horse Show 1. Frances and Girl On Fire earned the reserve championship in the Small Pony Hunters during Week 1 and captured more excellent ribbons the following week.

Lourdes Low and Sienna continued their winning partnership in the Junior Hunters. They placed fourth in the $5,000 JR/AO National Hunter Derby during Aiken Charity 2 and earned the 3’3” Junior Hunter championship.

Gigi Manigault and Creekside were champions of the 18-35 Adult Hunters during Week 2, winning two classes over fences for their tricolor.

Mackenzie Miller and her new mount Modern Music earned the Low Children’s Hunter championship during Week 1 and claimed excellent ribbons during Week 2.

Consistency counted for George Kelly and Quern Robin as they captured the Short Stirrup championship during Aiken Charity 1 and 2, with an armful of ribbons both weeks.

Mary Caroline Nolan and her horses collected many top prizes both weeks with MC and Liza Boyd aboard. Highlights included MC and Golden Years earning the 3’6” Junior Hunter reserve championship during Week 2 and Liza piloting Bettina to reserve honors in the 3’6” Performance Working Hunters.

MC also won the THIS Children’s Medal aboard Exclusive and was second in the ASPCA Maclay.

Grace Ann Nolan and her speedy partner Malbay Dreamer continued their winning ways, earning the Low Children’s/Adult Jumper reserve championship during Week 1.

A Winter Wrap-Up at WEF

Finally Farm spent the winter showing on the Winter Equestrian Festival circuit in Florida, and the 12 weeks provided many championships, top performances and a great learning environment.

Circuit Standings Highlights included:

Lourdes Low and Sienna placed third in the 3’3” Junior Hunter, 16-17, division, while Camryn Cass rode Catchphrase to 10th and La Vida Loca to 14th.

Mary Caroline Nolan piloted Exclusive to 10th in the circuit standings for the 3’6” Large Junior, 15 and under, section, and she rode Golden Years to 12th. Sister Grace Ann Nolan and Malbay Dreamer captured sixth in the Low Adult Jumper, 18-35, circuit standings.

Sugarbrook Love Letter and Elle Boyd were sixth in the circuit standings in the Small Green Ponies. Elle also rode three other Small Green ponies to the top 15 in the standings, including Donovan, Harlow Gold and Taking Names.
