Elle Boyd and Boheme Du Moulin
The Finally Farm team started out their spring season with tremendous success during the Aiken Charity Horse Shows, held at Bruce’s Field in May. The ACHS is a favorite, and our riders and horses enjoyed great competition along with wonderful hospitality from the show management.
During Week 1, we started out strongly with Liza Boyd piloting Karsten Z to the reserve championship in the Baby Green Hunters. This lovely young horse claimed a first and second on his way to the tricolor! This was just the beginning of our tricolor ribbon collection during the two weeks in Aiken!
Liza Boyd and Karsten Z
Team Finally Farm had a successful USHJA National Hunter Derby day. Elle Boyd and Magic Castle 39 earned scores of 89.25 and 87 to finish fourth in the $10,000 USHJA Junior/Amateur National Hunter Derby. Elle also finished just out of the ribbons aboard Reston. Meredith Huddle piloted Bluewater to two lovely trips to finish 11th. Rebekah Warren and Cassico returned to the derby ring in style with a nice round.
Liza also rode Meralex Farm’s Hillsborough Bay to sixth in the $25,000 USHJA International Hunter Derby during Aiken Charity I. Hillsborough Bay also earned top ribbons in the Green Hunter 3’9” division, including two seconds against a competitive group. We were so pleased with this lovely horse’s excellent first week in Aiken. A huge thank you to Bryan Baldwin for the ride!
Adeline Boyd and Madewell
Not to be outdone by her sister, Adeline Boyd also rode to great ribbons during Week 1. She rode Madewell to and fourth in the Children’s Hunter, 14 & Under, section and also earned nice ribbons in the division aboard Bellamy. Both horses also finished top-12 in the $1,000 NAL/WIHS Children’s Hunter Classic. Well done, Adeline! Excellent riding this week.
Riding Boheme du Moulin, Elle continued her success in the jumper ring. She placed second in the $5,000 1.40m Junior/Amateur Jumper Classic. Elle and Favorite Julius won the WIHS Hunter and Jumper phases to win the WIHS Overall, and they also topped the USEF/Platinum Performance Talent Search.
In the Hunter ring, Elle piloted Reston to two seconds in the Small Junior Hunter 3’6” section. A special thank you to Berry Porter and North Run for the ride on Favorit Julius and to Artemis Equestrian Farms for sharing Reston with Elle.
We are loving the new combination of Meredith Huddle and Lego 29! They placed third in the 1.10m Amateur Jumpers during Aiken Charity I. We’re excited to watch this partnership continue to develop. Great job, Meredith!
